Experimental Photography - Easel Distortion

In the darkroom I have been experimenting with a technique called ‘easel distortion’ inspired by this image of a plane and a bicycle (I can’t seem to find the name of the photographer):

This image was taken to show that this plane could take off at the same speed as a man pedaling on a bicycle, you can see that the plane is actually tethered to the bike!

To achieve this, you compose your image under a red filter so that you can see the image, but it doesn't affect the paper. Once you have chosen your composition, you fasten the paper in place and expose it under the enlarger.

Here is my attempt:

I haven’t yet taken a suitable image and so have used an image I found I left behind by another student; I chose it for the horizontality of the gate so that the effect could be seen. I will practice this technique some more as I have had to ‘burn’ in the bent portion in Photoshop as it received less light during exposure. Also in my attempt, the bent area seems to be magnified and warped more than in the image of the plane, but this is fine as it is my own work and my own distortion, it is perfectly imperfect.
